Congressional Briefing on FDA 7OH Action, Kratom, and Consumer Protection Legislation
Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM*
Location: Capitol Visitor Center – SVC 203-02
Members of Congress, staff, and stakeholders are invited to a Congressional Briefing to better understand the recent HHS and FDA scheduling recommendation on 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7OH) and why this action does not target natural kratom plant products.
This important briefing will:
Clarify the distinction between kratom and concentrated 7OH products.
Explain how the Federal Kratom Consumer Protection Act will complement FDA and DEA activity, close regulatory gaps, and ensure robust consumer protections.
Provide scientific and policy context to a complex and nuanced issue that impacts millions of American consumers.
Expert presenters will share how this balanced framework ensures public safety while respecting consumer access to natural kratom products.
Please mark your calendars and join us for this timely and informative discussion.
* Lunch will be provided
